Info

(Nutting 1912)

Callistephanus pacificus is a deep-sea coral that occurs down to a depth of around 3 kilometers on the east coast of North America from Alaska to Chile in South America.
The animal sea coral is in no way inferior to its tropical counterparts in terms of color, the animal has a rich reddish to orange color, which was not caused or distorted by a beam of light from the submersible.

If you call up one or two links, e.g. "Deep-Sea Corals of Alaska", you will find a whole range of other beautiful corals, it is worth taking a closer look at these cold-water animals.

Offshoots of this pretty coral will not be available in the trade.

Short description: Small, rubbery-appearing sea fans; branches forming net-like reticulations; color bright red in life

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Fabio De Leo of Ocean Networks Canada for two more great photos of Callistephanus pacificus.

Synonym: Swiftia pacifica (Nutting, 1912)
